4K monitor & RTX 2070

This is a biggie for me cause I dont have a darn clue what is going on. I have my RTX Armor Geforce 2070 running. I have a 4K 28 inch Asus VP28UQG running. but only on HDMI. I have the Display port cable fitted as recommended full performance twixt the two only prob is when I switch to display port (or 1.1 or 1.2) in the monitor menu I get zilch. What am I doing wrong because I am sure its me!! Both the the 'P' (whatever that is) is linked by the Display port cable to the 'P' port on the back of the RTX card - nothing. I was told that 4K will not work inn the HDMI (2 I think) cable but will in the Display cable.

I have just had fitted and running the M2 Samsung Drive - FFFFAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT or what!!

The RTX has three display ports for a triple monitor display and an HMDI. I have tried the DC in the 3 slots to no avail. Nvidia suggested I uninstall and reload Game Experience, but of course the reboot cut us off.

Have you chose the correct Video Input for the TV? On your remote, there should be an Input button. Like where you can change from HDMI1, Display Ports, PC, etc. . .

You were misinformed. The monitor supports HDMI 2.0, which allows 4k at 60 Hz. There's no particular need to use the DisplayPort interface. The HDMI cable should be a certified premium one, though.

If you wish to use DisplayPort, I'm not sure what your problem may be. Can you select the DisplayPort input in the monitor's settings?

bob: What you state goes against all I have heard. My HDMI cable (2.0) does not support 4k.

On the rear of my RTX 2070, there are 4 ports, 3 are Display ports - one is HDMI. I am currently on HDMI as the 3 x DPs dont produce an image in the monitor.

If you have an HDMI 2.0 cable, it supports 4k. It'd have to handle the actual 18 Gbps (gigabits per second), though; "high speed" cables from a couple of years ago were only rated at 10.2 Gbps.

What display are you getting through HDMI (resolution, refresh rate)
? If it's not 4k, can you switch to that in the nVidia control panel?

The monitor controls should allow you to choose which input is displayed. I hope that the monitor would automatically detect which input had a signal, but choosing it manually could help.

I'm using a DisplayPort 1.2 interface with my Samsung U28D590D. It was the only way I could get 3840X2160 at 60 Hz; the HDMI port on the monitor is only HDMI 1.4, which permits the same resolution but only at 30 Hz. The DP port is the only one I've ever used, and I don't recall whether I had to manually choose it initially or whether it was autodetected.

I found out the problem, or to be perfectly honest, Nvidia tech called Kiran found the solution. I am now on 4k proper. The problem was something I never considered. He told me unplug both the HDMI cable and the Display cable, then insert the display cable - desktop!!! Messed up but soon rearranged that. I was having to use hdmi to be able to communicate with the outside world, but neglected to remove it, so, when switching monitor to Display it was clashing with the still in HDMI cable. I am on recommended res of 3840 x 2160, all my 'olde' games run great but some may need res tweaking in game. Kiran was a revelation, he carefully and patiently led me through various tasks until we hit the right one. One for Nvidia!

from 30 may to now, I had been quite happy with the display on display port cable but little niggling things kept going wrong, icons moved by themselves, resolution did on occasion 'drift' to diff settings. So I thought sod it - and reinserted my HDMI 2 cable and switched on. That was 3 hours ago, and having checked all 3 users, everything seems happy, games good. In fact only programme with a display malfunction is PE9 which I mentioned in another thread.
