Thanks for posting this! I have an ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) STRIX GL503VMF that had the RTX 2060 driver installed for some reason by the previous owner, I think, and the system wouldn't recognize the installed GEFORCE GTX 1060. Windows 10 would not update the correct driver and showed that there was no NVIDIA card connected (error 45). How could there be display drivers for the RTX 2060 if no card was found? Crazy! Not even the Geek Squad could fix the problem, and the drivers downloaded directly from NVIDIA's webpage would not work because it showed that no graphics card was installed. After days of searching the web, I found and followed the instructions in your post and BAM!!! GTX 1060 card recognized and proper drivers installed and all is well! THANKS!!!

Game Ready Drivers vs. Creator Ready Drivers: which should I install?

    Please try this:
    Download Display Driver Uninstaller
    Extract DDU on desktop
Download these drivers Nvidia 430.64 and save it to desktop

    Reboot computer in to the
    Safe Mode use option one
    Run Display Driver Uninstaller
    Click on the options
Check Prevent downloads of drivers from Windows update when Windows search for a driver for a device (close, ok)
    Select device type GPU (Nvidia)
    Clean and restart
Now run Nvidia drivers installer 430.64
    Select custom
Uncheck EVERYTHING except the GPU Driver and PHYSX
    Check the CLEAN INSTALL box
    Finish install
    Reboot
