How do I stop monitor flickering?

I've recently updated my Windows 7 on ACER desktop to Windows 10 pro 32 bit. The upgrade itself took ages and after a successful update, the Windows function were not available. So i decided to restart in case it fixed the problem. And now as i try to open it, the windows wont load up and the monitor starts flickering like hell on the startup window. The windows logo is followed by a loading screen animation which goes on some kind of loop with the continuous flickering. And i cant get into my system. Any help or suggestion would be highly valued.

    How old is the monitor?

Have you tested the monitor with another PC, or the PC with another monitor?

Have you looked at the display & video settings to make sure they're what you expect?

Have you updated all your hardware drivers to Win10 versions?

The monitor is 2 years old. I dont think it is a hardware problem. My best guess is that the two windows (7 and 10) are having a conflict and now i cant even get to BIOS to choose the windows.

    Hi there
flickering is invariably caused by having the display refresh frequency (the number in hz) incorrect.

Most monitors these days will have values something between 55 and 60HZ for 1920 X 1080 - possibly less on 4K UHD monitors -- you need to experiment what works best.

Go into advanced display settings --- List all modes and experiment by changing them with the drop down

You should see a number of options like this : (only 1 in my case as I'm running this on a VM).

Also if you have a monitor hardware menu / handset try "auto picture resize" or similar or test different refresh rates if you can't do it in Windows.

    Cheers

I have already done that thing with the monitor menu. I can't get into the BIOS let alone the advanced settings. Whenever i turn on my computer, it shows the manufacturers logo and then it gets stuck just after showing the windows 10 logo and it wont get any further
