Changing Pix shape is it. But on my tv it shows 3 possibilities; Normal, Full, Unscaled.

In the pdf it shows; 4:3, Movie expand, Zoom, Wide, Manual Zoom, Normal, 16:9.

There is an 'Upgrade' part, but I have to download and put it on a thumb drive. It does show in the manual connecting a computer via HDMI.

I'll be busy until later Saurday, so I'll see if I can upgrade then.

Thanks for the manual download idea.

Thanks for the model number (FW40D48F).

I don't see anything in the manual that suggests turning overscan off or on.

However, I guess that you could use the manual zoom in the 16:9 settings to adjust the image size so that none of it is clipped.

Please let us know whether you can fix your issue.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't see a mention of manually changing the screen's geometry in the thread. I've used TVs for monitors for 20 years, and one of my current ones is a Sanyo 42".

Anytime I've had the problem you describe, it was solved via messing with the "geometry". It's a while back so I can't recall if I used the remote or the physical control buttons on the side/front of the TV—I've definitely used both, it can be a bit of a 'keep tinkering' to find the secret handshake. This is all while using the on-screen TV menu system of course, not any PC software.

You will be literally 'sliding' the viewport around the screen, or making it smaller or bigger with the arrow keys on remote or TV controls.

I remember that. You could position the screen on a monitor view in the Graphics controls.

The built-in chip doesn't have that.

Apparently my video chip puts out 16:9 aspect. The zoom is only available via 5:4 aspect ratio.

Cannot find anything in either the tv nor my computer video chip menus to get 5:4 aspect ratio.

On my tv it shows 3 possibilities; Normal, Full, Unscaled. I have tried all 3, and only Normal gives me a screen I can use.

Strange. Something I did, but I don't lknow what, gave me the 4:3 aspect menu under Pix Shape, and now I have 1920 x 1080. All four edges meet at the edge of the screen, and I can see all icons, tray, etc.

Didn't see the 5:4 aspect settings before this. Just looking at the menu folr 5:4 under Pix shape... and its off the right side again. Okay, got it back.

Pix shape: Full, video chip at 1920 x 1080.

I can move the mouse pointer off the right side, and off the bottom of the screen, but not the other two directions.

I'm happy. I'll mark it resolved.

Just had to lower the resolution one step. Spotted some icons off the side. I'm tired, I'll work on this next week.

Good to hear you have a usable screen :)

    Fyi 1920 x 1080 is 16:9 ratio, not 5:4.

Yeah... the 5:4 menu didn't show up under Pix size until I did something with the computer video chip settings. So it took both to get this to work.

Anyway, made another adjustment to my computer, and the 16:9 menu under Pix size comes back. At 1920 x 1080 now.
