Win 10 desktop, Sanyo 40" LED monitor, resolution maybe not supported

I had a 21 inch monitor that worked fine with my Win 10 desktop. I recently purchased a 40 inch Sanyo LED monitor. It is 1080p.

Windows suggests running the resolution at 1920 x 1080. Icons are off the edge to the left and right. The Time and date on the task bar are off screen to the right.

I changed the resolution to 1680 x 1050 and moved the icons back onto the viewable part of the screen/desktop.

When I open any software window, most the move bar at the top is off the top of the screen. Same with folders most of the time. I can resize, but when I close that one, or open a new one, its off the top of the desktop.

Is there a setting I can change to fix this ? Or do I need to get a PCI Express version 2 video card to give me better choices for screen sizes ? Or is there some other method I am missing ?

I does look like over scan.. but I'm not sure.

When I am using it as a television, the picture is smaller if the show is presented in less than 1080p. But 1080p goes beyond the edge of the screen.

Maybe I need a graphics card and maybe not. I haven't found info on what the max resolution the tv has. It may be smaller than 1920.

I double checked Picture, then Auto Picture, and the possibilities are: Personal, Vivid, Sports, Movie, Game, Eco.

I cannot find an auto setting.

I did find Graphics Options for the Intel graphics chip. Under Panel Fit it has a set of selections: Maintain Display Scaling, Scale Full Screen, Center Image, Maintain Aspect Ratio.

With Maintain Display Scaling all icons and screen is visible; however, there is a gap on the left side of no picture.

The others, icons go off the edge. That is with resolution set to 1680 x 1050. The tv/monitor does have 1920 x 1080 resolution according to several sites I looked at for specs.

The Intel video chip has 128 megs of video ram, and uses up to 2 gigs of my 4 gigs of ram as virtual video ram.

No overscan, no aspect ratio. Previous television/monitors had such settings but this one doesn't. I have looked at every menu item.

I guess I will have to leave it at the lower resolution. 1680 x 1050

I have used televisions for computer monitors before and didn't have this problem. LCD ones, not CRT ones.

Guess this doesn't have a resolution, except what I have already done. I did look up the video card suggested by others on the Asus forums, and its $55 not including shipping. Even if it doesn't fix this problem, I can use it for playing Everquest.

This is the model number: FW40D48F on the box label.

off to the side, same level of the label, it has: ABL20U2-40FX

That isn't the serial number.

It has on the front 1080p.

downloaded the manual. I'll look through it.
