Hey nIGHTmAYOR. I just wanted to say that after turning on the unreleased Intel kernel 600 in tweaks I got much clearer audio. I use PCIe soundcard SoundblasterX AE-5, 2017 version and the sound was already very good when the kernel 500 was on. I was surprised that the sound changed, when I was reading other forums, everyone always said that GPU or iGPU does not affect sound that much. What do you think about this? Could this cause any damage to the soundcard?
I haven't specifically de-compiled it to see what it does , mind you I haven't invested much into knowing what format it is or weather it can be de-compiled or not , I just brought it in for those who are willing to squeeze their PCs for more , another behavior noticed by another user was that it removed ads from adware apps / games on Microsoft store . How it does that is probably un-intentional as there wasn't even Windows 8 back when it was released mind you a Microsoft Store .

Hi @nIGHTmAYOR ... right now i'm stay to write from a notebook Acer Aspire 5732Z.
I have changed the original hd and i have installed a new ssd and i have installed windows 10...

Apparently all worked good but the graphics card (it's say Intel GMA 4500M on a stickers) apparently used the stock w.d.d.m.

On my case i have installed this driver... after some trouble whit download from 4shared (i don't have an account.... i thinks it's better to make more different mirror) after the final reboot i obtain and i can configure the driver from intel panel but apparently the openGL it's not works for all apps/games.

In my example i have tryed the latest daily build of ScummVM (as right now included the ResidualVM project) whit the italian version of "Grim Fandango".
Before to install this driver when i start ScummVM i obtain an errors on status and it's report an error say:
"scummvm could not get GLSL version"

After i have installed this driver this errors it's disappears but when i choose to play grim fandango using OpenGL render the games it's not start and it's be closed immediatelly whitout any errors or somethigs similar.

I don't have idea if it's the opengl problems........... if i choose Software the games it's start whitout any issue.....

How i can test if the OpenGL it's correctly installed ?

    *EDIT*
I remember in the pass i know a games using OpenGL... it's this:
    Download | Turbo Sliders

I have installed and this as openGL as render it's works whitout any issue.....

You can use "OpenGL Extensions Viewer" to test if Opengl was installed correctly , however I doubt this is the case .

Usually that problem lay where that some Opengl softwares specially emulators kind of filters out GPUs that did not recieve a Windows 10 driver update since the w.d.d.m driver doesn't even come with Opengl support hence why your emulator failed to open at all while on w.d.d.m .

So what I suggest is , try to get a version of your emulator pre 2015 when Windows 10 was released and before they added such filters , most probably will work like a charm , if not , consulting the emulator forum for support might be the next best thing .

    P.S
1 - I do not recommend using compatibility mode for emulator , it hardly works with Opengl , mind you it will slow things down just .

2 - Always check minimum system requirement of the game , your GPU can handle games designed for Opengl version 2.1 or less , above that it shall glitch due to absence of higher Opengl functions .

Hey guys! Sorry for kind of necroposting. Is there any chance to be able to install Steam and play Among Us with no issues?

    :)

My two cents in that matter is that I have had few posts where the users already had steam installed no problem but the games themselves gave them glitches specially Mirror ones , on revising the case turns out that despite those games were pretty basic (almost being 2D) their minimum system requirement were set to be OpenGL 3.x , there is hardly a way to cheat that , I have included in latest release of the driver a mean to cheat the GL version some games/apps acquire so to allow them to run despite not meeting minimum requirements (With 50/50 chances as sometimes the games/app check for the presence of the functions not the GL version itself) , but this on the other hand wouldn't solve the issue of the absence of functions , so if they were ever called the app would glitch .

So basically the answer is yes they would work but your options will become limited to whatever you may find that works for Opengl 2.1 which are very rare .

Of course if someone know of a GL wrapper I am missing that would enable emulating / running of OpenGL 3.x apps over lower end GPUs that would be awesome .

Probably a dumb question (I am not familiar with Steam), but why play in OpenGL? Why not configure the games to play in DirectX mode? This could work better. Also I had seen a couple of Steam games (do not remember which) fail to load unless you enable DirectPlay feature (in Windows Features, Legacy components), so it could help to do that. I would also install latest DirectX 9.0c runtime just in case some games need these older DirectX files to work.

Hi people! A little update on my previous question about Steam and Among Us. Today I successfully installed both Steam and Among Us and it was perfectly playable.

I was in a hurry so I didn't have the chance to check if the computer was using the latest Windows 10 drivers or the modded ones that I have installed one year ago (so, not the latest version posted here but the previous one). The system went thru some Windows updated and the modded drivers might have been overwritten at some point. I recall an old post in this thread post about this.

But hey, it works :) and it's awesome :)

I will definitely test it with the new Duckstation emulator. I'm really curious to see if that potato can play Crash Bandicoot at native resolution :P

Also remember to enable DirectPlay (Windows Components, Legacy features), otherwise some old Steam games will fail to load and display an error. It never hurts to be backwards compatible no matter what others want you to believe. You should also install DirectX 9.0c runtime to improve compatibility.
