Laptop Screen Very Jittery on Bootup

My mother's Toshiba Satellite l750D screen display shakes and there is a lot of interference and white lines
when the laptop is booted. After about 10 or 15 seconds it calms down. I've tried updating/deleting/reinstalling the display drivers, and a fresh windows 10 installation, but the problem still exists. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Do you see this interference if you boot to the bios screen rather than letting Windows boot ? If so then I would suspect a hardware issue as being favourite.

There is one thing that comes to mind on Toshiba laptops (I have a friend with one) and that is that there is a setting in Windows power plans for something very specific to the hardware used. Called something like 'catalyst' or ATI catalyst' and is specifically related to the Radeon graphics.

Thanks for your reply. I will check that when I next see her. I have an inkling booting to BIOS is ok. The screen shakes and displays a blizzard for 10 maybe 15 seconds when booting the latest Windows 10 version and then it stabilises. I have a newer Toshiba laptop so I will look at the windows power plan options.

If the bios is OK then that sounds more promising.

Good luck and hope its a quick fix

Thanks. I need to spend more time testing different options.

My Toshiba Satellite L750-16L has an Intel chipset, so that's of little help to you. For the L750D with its AMD Quad-Core Processor A6-3420M APU with AMD Radeon™ HD 6520G Graphics, apparently there are no Windows 10 drivers. The latest available drivers from AMD are for Windows 8.1.

It may also be an indication that the screen or the cable connecting screen and motherboard are on the way out!

Thanks again for the very helpful suggestions. I will try updating the drivers and checking the video cable.
