dual display lost after removing appx package

    Good day,

Recently I discovered online about removing appx package with PowerShell or something anyway I followed the instructions and it was successful I put all commands properly and the software is gone.

Other thing is I turned off Windows Update for 30 days because it kept returning an error code and the install constantly failed, I tried rebooting in safe mode to delete a temp file and a few other things but just decided to turn it off for 30 days.

ANYWAY I used to run this machine - Lenovo ThinkPad T440p (awesome unit) with a HDMI cable to my TV and now I'm just getting a "no signal" pong game even though the TV itself recognizes a device is connected to HDMI port and offers to switch the signal isn't delivered and the laptop screen stays on even during a restart.

Main question is did I accidentally delete something important for "multiple displays - show only on 2" to disappear from my OS????

Question 2 is can someone walk me through the correct troubleshooting to repair this issue without having to reinstall appx package?

If you can try another device (TV) to see if it is the TV causing issues. If you only have one TV try other HDMI inputs. Possibly one that is working already. If that does not work try the cord like last message if you have a device like a video game counsel that is working with a hdmi cord use that one and the same input. If you tried that and still not working make sure the computer is seeing the second display. Right click on the desktop and select Display Settings. There should be a 1 and 2 there for two displays. After this respond what you find out to further trouble shoot the issue.

    - Did my best with most of that. The laptop is all I have. Also there is no HDMI in the laptop it goes through an adapter in the mini DP... so yes the adapter could also be shot. And so could my cord. It's truly possible that some component of the hardware is shot. I don't believe that's the issue but yes it's possible as I can't perform all the deductive steps necessary to verify every component in isolation.

.....this is the issue though. Computer is not seeing 2nd display. Multiple displays is missing from Display Settings. That was probably not clear from the OP but that's how it is.

It kind of looks like to me that the display settings is missing some stuff which is why I wonder if I deleted something important.

What I can tell you for sure is that it all worked, then I unplugged everything for a few weeks and used the laptop only. During this time I removed the appx package and suspended Windows Update.

Do you remember what package you removed with powershell or the command you used?

Also maybe see if you have a restore point you can go back to.

    The entire appx package.

    I'm pretty sure < https://windowsreport.com/uninstall-...pps-all-users/ > is the tutorial I used.

I made one before removing the package actually.
No offense sir but I'm reserving that for my last course of action.

If there was a particular app (or 3) that I need from the package then I'd prefer to singularly install it/them rather than restore my whole OS or reinstall the entire package for that matter.

    And the specific commands

    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage

    Get-AppXProvisionedPackage -online | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage –online

    Try this.

    Run Powershell as admin again
    Post this following code in and press enter: Get-AppxPackage -allusers | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -register "$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode}

After this is done installing the packages again restart the computer.

    Hello.

    Want to advise the following:

Removing appx package does not disrupt the computer's ability to display to a HDTV.
After replacing the TV and replacing the Mini Display port to HDMI adapter with a direct cable I have concluded the issue was a fault in the Mini-DP to HDMI adapter.

I did reinstall the appx package according to the other person's opinion and that did not solve the problem so I removed it again.
