Screen brightness is on all my laptops but missing on all my desktops

Like the title reads. The screen brightness slider under Home/System/Display is missing on all my desktops, yet is there on all my laptops. Is there a slider for the desktop and, if so, where is it?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

FYI: I use this. You just run the executable and click the icon in the system tray to see a slider.

    Download BrightnessTray 1.2.3

Other than that - read through this:

Thanks. I tried the download though it did not change the screen brightness on the desktop.

The answer was buried in a comment in the link you provided: There is no slider on the desktop-only the laptop. On the desktop screen brightness adjustments must be made on the monitor itself.
    Way to go, M$....

Screen brightness adjustments are available on the device that actually has a screen. So for a laptop that is the laptop itself, but for a desktop it is the monitor that has the screen - so that is where adjustments must be made. This has always been the case & is not unique to Microsoft operating systems. Some monitors have utilities that can be installed in Windows to allow adjustments to be made from the OS - these will be available from the monitor manufacturer IF they exist at all.

If you connect an external monitor to one of your laptops you will find that you cannot adjust the external monitor brightness from the laptop.
