    Resolution is 1024x768 instead of 1336x768


    Hi greetings,

    I have this annoying problem of my monitor (LG HD '16) not showing it's true native resolution of 1336x768
    I know this monitor isn't broken because I tried different system on it and it works perfectly.
    I just recently build my old PC and upgraded some parts, reinstalled windows 10.

    The things I have done.
    1. Used DDU and remove the OLD graphics card driver
    2. Change different VGA Cables
    3. I use our TV that has a VGA support
    4. Use the driver of the monitor

    >I'm using a converter (DVI to VGA) because I just change from GT 630 to GTX 750 Ti. The GT 630 is also showing that kind of problem.

    When you mention the driver of the monitor do you mean the .inf? Maybe the EDID is not being reported correctly. Can you change the resolution under the Nvidia controlpanel? If you go to the device manager by right clicking Start, under monitors does it say generic Pnp or your LG? Maybe the information is not there. Not sure why it's not detected here because it should when you hit it with its .inf file.

    I can't revert back now to 1024x768 as now it shows out of range and every other resolution.

    The purpose of the installer is to place LG HD 16.inf and LG HD 16.icm in the right locations.

    I'm not sure that I have ever seen a monitor show up as a "Generic Non-PnP Monitor". Generic PnP (plug and play), yes.

    It may be as simple as a bad VGA cable. Particularly if you got the same thing with two different graphics cards.

    I tried now to reformat again the PC but the problem still persist.

    Could it be the DVI-I to VGA adapter?

    I will try to use different adapter but same DVI-I to VGA and also I don't have extra monitor right now.
    I ordered a new monitor online which will come 3 weeks from now

    Do you think a new monitor will fix this annoying problem?

    Generic non-Pnp monitor means that your monitor doesn't support Pnp and that you need a driver for it, which isn't properly installed because it should list your LG as the ID in Windows if it was. Something is not right with the information it's trying to gather. You grabbed the driver and not the onscreen driver? Did it come as a folder with more than just an executable? If it has a folder too try this:

    Right click start and go to device manager.
    Right click your monitor under monitors and hit update driver.
    Click on your computer where it should look for drivers and choose the folder.

    Assuming I have the correct monitor PDF manual from your reference.

    Just buy an HDMI cable forget about adapters. Then the EDID info will be sent.

    The driver as such is just an INF file with monitor specs and a colour profile. Does the same job, basically for analogue input VGA monitors where the EDID info is not sent back to Windows.

    Your picture is showing a horizontal squashing of the video, this would be due to incorrect settings of the monitor.

    I'd hope so, if you will be using an interface other than VGA.

Just loaded win10 on a new hdd--checked resolution and shows the highest at 1820x1080. How do I get to 1920x1080--the resolution on my LG HD monitor?
