    Low profile graphics card recommendations

    Afternoon/Evening/Morning all...

I have a SFF Desktop (HP EliteDesk 800 G2). A rather powerful computer for its size. However, I need a graphics card for it, to thus play games. It has a built in card on the board. Alas, I'd like something a little more powerful.

    Something with:
    - 2 or more Display Ports
    - Low profile (SFF) bracket
    - At least 2GB or more of memory

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Which specific Elitedesk model do you have?

From the nVidia side I believe the fastest low-profile cards available are 1050-based. However, I haven't seen any with multiple DP outputs - usually they have one each of HDMI, DP, and DVI.

Looks like there are variety of EliteDesk 800 G2 models.

I believe that the most powerful low-profile cards are nVidia 1030, 1050, and 1050ti. (In order of increasing expense.) Some of those are dual slot.

As PolarNettles posted, they seem to all have one DP, one HDMI, and one DVI port. There are adapters from HDMI and DVI to DP, but the ones I spotted are active (powered). Depending on what you expect from the DP output (like 4k/60 Hz), you might need one that supports HDMI 2.0. (HDMI 1.4 can't do 4k/60 Hz.)

(I didn't check which models are available at Newegg UK.)

A 300W PSU is the recommended minimum for a 1050ti.

You don't necessarily need 2 or more DisplayPort outputs. One will do if monitors DisplayPorts are capable of daisy chaining, look for that in the monitors specs.

You will obviously have to check on space you have available for a particular low profile (SFF) Card.

GTX 1050 looks like what is available. There are a few with 2 x DisplayPort (Zotac) but not the smallest ones.
For really small probably the GTX 1030 series.
MSI usually have a good range.

Then there is the power supply consideration does it have enough umpf.

The GT 1030 DDR5 can play games fine as long as you're in the 900p range.

Then there is the GTX 1050 which can play games at 1080p, 300W sounds adequate enough as I have ran a Core i3 2120 SFF system with 300W power supply with a low-profile GTX 750Ti.
