After installing DCH graphics driver, sleep resume hangs

A week ago, I installed the newest Intel DCH driver for my OptiPlex 740 SFF 530 integrated graphics (1809 Professional x64). Now, when resuming from sleep, occasionally the system will hang (with the HDD activity light blinking). This did not occur until I upgraded the driver.

I have looked in the event log for obvious issues, but nothing shows.

    Can anyone advise?

    Hi Katanga

I would download Intel's tool and see if they recommend an update. The update may correct the situation?

I've been using this assistant and so far no issues.

Are any of your devices flagged in Device Manager with a yellow triangle. You might also want to check your Dell website for any drivers related to power that Windows may have just load as generic default MS drivers.

Before installing or going much further please ensure you have a system image created with a toll like Macrium Reflect. You can then restore if things head south.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

Your specs say Windows 7, please update.

The error occurs with the latest updates from Intel. Uninstalling the graphics driver and using the newest one from Dell does not eliminate the problem.

Are there any logs that can provide clues as to what is wrong?

It says you should not uninstall DCH drivers.

    How did you uninstall?

These are really new and I have to believe there logs. Intel has this FAQ page and suggest you contact them to undo. This alone is crazy. Wonder how product like DDU will work. I just sent them an email asking.

I uninstalled and went back to the driver from Windows Update. It hangs sometimes (less often than with the latest driver), but waiting until the screen saver comes on and then moving the mouse clears the hang. That's a workaround.

Might try the latest DDU which is supposed to be able to handle the removal of DCH drivers. I know you said you removed but DDU does a very thorough removal.

    If interested.

    Then reapply driver of choice.

Update: I haven't had a hang in a while. I wonder what's behind this problem?

These DCH drivers are new and I would imagine there will be growing pains that we users will be asked to help identify.

Did Windows or Intel re-install the DCH drivers?

No new drivers; I'm still using the one Windows Update provides.

If Intel provides a newer driver, I'll try it.
