Display blinking occasionally while playing games (NVIDIA)

I don't know what's causing this, I really hope it's not my GPU as that's only a few months old, but the screen will turn black for a second, then come back on, while playing various games. Sometimes it won't happen for a few days, other times it does it 3 or 4 times during my hour or two hour-long play sessions. My drivers are up to date, as is GF Experience (not using the betas, either). I've updated since it started and it's still doing it.

Only when playing games? Have you monitored the temperatures? When did you start noticing this issue?

Probably the most obvious question would be; Have you checked the display cable and tried a different port? Use Display Port if possible and don't use any cable over 2-3m, preferably 1-1.8m. An other idea would be to revert back to the 411.70 drivers since the r416 drivers have been troublesome for some users.

Temperatures are fine, it's not overheating. I switched to a different cable because it was blinking a lot more on the old one, even outside of games.

So it's blinking outside of games aswell, and differently depending on the cable? What cable and port are you using exactly? Try out the DVI-D/D-Sub input instead (or the HDMI if you're on DVI). If changing the cable, port or reverting back the driver doesn't fix this then it's probably a hardware issue. Not sure about the GPU though, but if you can connect another monitor to it for testing then you would know for sure. I suspect the monitor being faulty if I'm being honest, but it's a guess based on the information here.

My monitor only has HDMI, DVI, and VGA ports. I currently lack the proper cables to test this.

If you still have warranty left you can claim it. It seems to be a hardware fault

The only thing I may have warranty on is the GPU.
