Laptop max resolution less than projectors

My camera club has just bought a new Projector with a 1920x1200 max resolution, but the clubs Windows laptop screen is only 1920x1080 as is the max graphics card resolution. How can we get the laptop to project at the Projectors max resolution of 1910x1200, or can’t we?

Have seen external usb graphics cards on eBay that go up to far higher resolutions, but don’t know anything about them .. could one of those be the answer?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Native resolution of video output and input is always going to be an issue. What is the model and manufacturer of the laptop? You can use the USB adapters if you really need to go to the Native Resolution of the PJ.

The projector should be able to take an HDMI input of 1920x1080 and just have blackbars top/bottom, just smaller size vertically, or it might stretch it.

Have a look at it's specs and menus. It should be flexible enough to change aspect ratio and take lower resolution inputs.

Laptops are commonly 1366x768 or 1920x1080.

A modern one should breeze through this with ease.

Majority of input video devices will self change to the input resolution and will not show the bars for video input at 1920x1080. Your eye would really not even see the difference, especially with a PJ. Majority of the Projectors used are not even calibrated properly and with the screen choice that a person makes, it really is not going to be movie theater quality.

Aren’t sure how these USB graphics cards work ... the one we found online is:-

StarTech.com Slim USB 3.0 to VGA External Video Card: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Any idea if that would solve our problems?

The Startech devices are pretty good. Amazon has a great return policy. Try the device out and if it does not work, send it back.
