Far as I know that is only for the Detection Software from NVidia to run on his machine.

And agree, having both enabled should have no bearing on anything.

We had an issue detecting your GPU
Quite often we have found the problem is related to failed or incorrect java installations.
Note that if you are using IE browser, there are both 32bit and 64bit java installations required, depending on which bit level of the IE browser you are utilizing.
The AUTO-DETECT has been tested with all major browsers on the Windows platform, where IE has the potential to require either 32bit and or 64bit java to be installed.
Here are some preliminary suggestions that if followed have a high success rate.
Delete or Disable existing java installations Why should I uninstall older versions of Java from my system?
Install latest java from java.com, using your browser of preference java.com: Java + You
If using IE "Internet Explorer", install once using IE 32bit then a 2nd time while using the 64bit version of the browser. Not required to have both, just a suggestion.
Does java detection work on the java.com site Verify Java Version
If the java detection on the java.com site is successful and the AUTO-DETECT functionality continues to fail, then submit feedback including your contact email and we will provide assistance as applicable.

How do I run the GPU Reader?
Click Auto-detect your GPU.
If you do not have Java installed, follow the Java link for installation and then return to
GeForce.com Drivers page.
Re-Click Auto-detect your GPU.
A GPU Reader install window will appear, select Install.
GPU Reader will initiate the scan.

Yeah, wondering why he's going that route when you can just go get it. Java is a no-no anyhow for most purposes. Gets on the box, forgotten, and full of holes.

One of the reasons, that even though I don't need or used it, I still keep it on one machine, to know if there is an update, and inform fellow members of the update in one of my threads.

Also, today, Nvidia support told me the auto detect on their website only works with IE. I'm using Firefox. So that issue is moot.

"What is Clear CMOS?" Basically, pop the case open, pull the CMOS battery out (Button Battery), count to 15, put it back in. Factory Reset of BIOS. There are trick ways on some MB's to jump cables, if you'd like to try that.

I tried to look in the motherboards manual for you Z370 HD3 but the manual only has updating BIOS and the bloatware, nothing of any real use

But in the pictures there are also no buttons, so I guess there are two pins somewhere marked to reset CMOS and you just need to short them with a screw driver, AFTER shutting off the PC, and unplugging it(or if your PSU has a switch turn that off), then drain all the left over power out by pushing the power button for 20 seconds three or four times., Then short the pins.
