Lenovo T480 external Monitor causes programs to jump

I have a new Windows 10 update to my Lenovo T480. When I hook up the external monitor to the dock or to the laptop, the monitor causes my programs to jump and not work correctly. Specifically SAP. If I unhook the monitor, all is well. I have all the "monitor" functions, I just cannot get my laptop's programs to perform properly. Any assistance would be great.

    Thanks

    Hello-

I don't know why no one has responded but, it looks like you have a HDMI to VGA adapter. Is that what you're using for the monitor connection? If so, have you set the monitor to VGA?

One has to give questions time for someone with a solution to see the question. We are all volunteers striving to help others wherever/whenever possible but the questions may not be seen for awhile and we don't all have identical computers or software on them that is producing the same issue.

I understand that but it had already been a day since he posted. It was just a casual comment.

The monitor has both vga and hdmi but the laptop is hdmi only. Is there a setting on the monitor that needs to be changed?

I had looked at the tech specs for your system the other day and somehow I saw that you had a hdmi to vga adapter. Today I looked at the specs again and the connection is hdmi. Of course, you would want to set the monitor controls to hdmi.

Is this problem occurring on both the monitor and laptop screens?

Right click on your desktop and select Personalize. Click on Display and, then, Change Display Settings.

I would think you would see displays 1 and 2. Click on the one for your monitor. Is your monitor shown correctly with the correct refresh rate and resolution? The refresh rate would probably be be in Advanced Settings, Monitor. What graphics device is it shown as connected to?

We only see an issue when the monitor is connected to the laptop or the doc. The systems, when the monitor is connected just around and do not function. When we unplug the monitor all is well. We can see and switch from monitor 1/2 is just . I did not know there was a function on the monitor(?) to switch from VGA to HDMI. Since we are now switching to HDMI only, now, how can I find the monitor controls to switch to HDMI. I do not recall seeing anything on display when I right-click on the laptop screen.

On my monitor (Viewsonic), I press a button on the bottom of it and a menu comes up which allows me to select the "input" type.
