I am thinking of getting myself a 27" 2K or 4K monitor and am wondering if my GTX 1050Ti will run either.
A friend has suggested that it will as long as I don't try gaming in Ultra settings.
But as I don't game because I have never had much luck in getting games to run the Ultra is not going to be an issue.
So any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
I am running a 32" 2k monitor with a GTX 1060 3gig, and as long as I lower some settings things run fine like, Fallout 4 (lots of mods), Subnautica etc. I got mine from Officeworks, as I see you are from Oz try them. So if you are going 27" with your card, lower a few settings and get gaming till (like me) you may get a better card when cash allows!
Thanks dwarfer I have seen soem 2K and 4K monioors in Office Works and they all look good in the shop just wondering how my old 1050Ti will cope with one.
I don't game so much as i just want a batter resolution on the screen as I have tried gaming but don't know how to do it to be honest. I did try Sniper once but it never got past the training stage it seems to stick at that never moving on to missions of any sort so I just gave up.
I'm confused. 4k is the scale of the horizontal pixel count, 2k is the closest resolution to it, meaning an anamorphic format of 2.40:1 2048x, or 1920x. Or do you mean 2K as a half of 4K, as in 2560x1440 16:9? Because that's not 2k. Well anyway, 4K (horizontal) on a 1050 Ti is too much, unless you're planning to play older games, or modern titles on very low quality and low frame rates. 1440p is pushing it, but may play fine depending on the game. the GTX 1050 Ti is really classified as a 1080p GPU IMO. If you know what games you want to play then we can find a few benchmarks. For regular use you can do both.
Ok Faith I am just a general user not really a gamer and just would like the extra resolution on the screen.
I think I mentioned before that primarily I don't play games because whenever I have tried I don't seem to get anywhere - had one called Sniper but apart from the training camp start up it just would not go onto any missions as such. So I just stick to emailing and forum stuff but I would like a nice crisp screen to do it with.

So dwarfer do you get a decent resolution on the bigger screen with 2K and do you have to have some fancy GPU to drive it??
The 1050ti is spec'd to run up to 7680x4320 (8k) and 240 Hz refresh rate, although obviously not at the same time. I think that the card is capable of running at the maximums currently supported by DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0b.
I believe that as long as you're not contemplating high resolution game play, the 1050ti should support a 4k or 2k monitor without any issues.
I'm using a Samsung U28D590D 28" 3820X2160 display. It was one of the earliest relatively inexpensive UHD monitors that supported a 60 Hz refresh rate. (It's only a TN panel, though.) I use the DisplayPort interface. My graphics card is a Maxwell Titan X, which is about the same as a GTX 980ti. (Don't ask why I own such a ridiculous card.) I can't speak to the effectiveness of the 1050ti, but I have never seen a graphics card that gave poor results with static images at any supported resolution.
Thanks Bobkn mate that sounds ok to me and me I only want it because I would like to have a high res screen as I said I don't game. So what you found is geat news for me and I don't think any GPU is carzy mate as long as it does what you want it to do and that is give one the better screens
