    input signal not found

"Input signal not found" comes up when I shut down my computer.
I have gone the net and found some answers but none worked.
I just bought a new monitor HP 24W and it has worked great for the past 14 days.
All of a sudden the above "input signal not found" started to appear when I shut
down. I have checked and rechecked all the cables, nothing worked. I have updated
my Windows, nothing changed. Please help !!!! Any help is truly appreciated.

Ummmm.... why do you think there should be a video signal when the computer is shut down?

    Thanks for the reply.
That's a very good question. I certainly do not expect any signal, but why does this message
keep showing up. After about 20 seconds it goes away and shuts down. What is going on?
Shouldn't it just shut down without any remarks?

The message is coming from your monitor itself. The computer shuts down, the video signal from the computer shuts down and the monitor itself is displaying the lost signal message before it enters sleep mode. Most TVs made in the last decade will show the same message if you pull out the HDMI cable in the middle of a program.

Modern TVs and monitors are no longer "dumb". They have their own computers in them that control them. You are seeing a message produced by the computer inside the monitor.

    Great and thanks.
Does your reply indicate I should forget the message and all is working fine?
If so I cannot thank you enough.

    Hello NavyLCDR,
I understand what you are saying HOWEVER that message just started up two days ago. When I first installed the monitor (about a week ago) it did not show any message. Perhaps this is now due to a Windows
    update ???
    Anyway thanks

Perhaps you just didn't notice it before? It is perfectly normal and has nothing to do with Windows at all.

Thanks. I evidently did not notice it before.
Happy with your answer. Especially since it has nothing to do with Windows.

Agreed, that message is quite normal. Also keep in mind that the motherboard has power to it all the time even when shut down unless the power cord is actually pulled from the back of it. When the computer is shut down or goes to sleep it does take a bit of time for the monitor to realize it has lost the video/data signal from the computer.
