    Intel driver update problem

I may have tracked down the source of my Black Screen crashing problems but not how to solve them. An Intel HD Graphics driver with Error 43 needs to be updated, but Device Manager insists that it is the best driver available. Both here and in Intel Support I see that this is a common issue, probably resulting from a recent update. I have found plenty of info on this but not how to solve it, if Device Manager cannot do it. My usually reliable Driver Booster is also not updating it.

    So what can I do?

    Intel Driver

PS I copied the following from Speccy but am not clear as to what number is the Driver version:

    Intel HD Graphics
    Manufacturer Intel
    Model HD Graphics
    Device ID 8086-22B0
    Revision 23
    Subvendor Intel (8086)
    Current Performance Level Level 0
    Driver version 20.19.15.5058
Count of performance levels : 1
    Level 1 - "Perf Level 0"

First off, stop using "Driver Booster". As for fixing the Black Screen issue, it is known with the 1800 series of Windows 10 updates, that NVIDIA and Intel GPU's are having Black Screen problems and it is up to them and Microsoft to fix the problem.

Looks like you have forcibly updated to that version 5058 which is unfortunate as some new ones are flawed.

I would go to the Device Manager > Display adaptors > Intel(R) HD Graphics > Properties > Driver Tab > Roll Back Driver.
That should get you back to an older driver which should be OK.
Mine is 4963. That is OK on Windows 10 1809.

Best to leave the updates with Windows updates as it should block the flawed Intel drivers for your hardware.

If you cannot Roll back, uninstall from the Driver Tab. Windows will then find a driver and install it.

Uninstall Device in Device Manager, removes the Device from Windows and the driver also. It allows Windows to re-find the device and install default drivers.

Have you tried finding out what driver Intel thinks you should have? Install & run Intel driver & support assistant and it will tell you.

    Intel DSA

By the way, Device manager can be used to check whether or not a newer version of a driver is available but it has no means of knowing if a current driver is defective [it is just comparing version numbers].

I agree with the others, ditch Driver booster. Get your drivers from the OEM[s].

Be careful with DSA straight up bricked my Intel HD drivers and I swear to god not to use it again.

As usual, DO NOT USE Driver Booster (Seriously recommended especially with Laptops and Pre-built desktop systems.)

It just keeps downloading me a wrong driver, I had to resort to just heading to the motherboard manufacturer's website and download the latest graphics driver in there.
