    clayto,

Running the DSA provides an output such as that shown below. The information it provides should be enough for you to decide if it is offering the correct driver or not [you could also run %windir%\system32\msinfo32.exe if you wanted to check up on your hardware].

Personally, I always uninstall the DSA after it has done its job. They tinker with it so much that it will insist on updating to a new version before you ever decide to run it again.

    Yes, Uninstall Device.

I would not use Intel Driver Assistant, Driver booster or similar that may also download an unfortunate driver.

I would just stress the use Windows updates, update in the Device Manager, keep it simple.

Whilst currently you may get an older driver it will work which is the important bit. Later on you will get a newer driver, hopefully hopping over the flawed ones.

From post #11 it looks like Intel Driver assistant gets you a driver which is the same as Windows updates.

It's useful to let Intel update your graphics driver. Install the Intel Driver and Support Assistant tool and let it do the rest. It worked for me. Give it a try.

I followed the advice to remove the device in Device Manager. This has worked, the error icon has disappeared and the new Driver is 4331. It has not however, resolved the Black Screen and crashing issues --- so I guess that is not down to Display errors. I am hoping, as has happened in the past, that October update might cure them, when it arrives. Before Christmas I hope!

Why should Intel corporation download an "unfortunate" driver for its own product? Driver Booster might do so but the Intel tool is from its own site, it's not third party so its your choice.

Why should I stop using Driver Booster? I have used it regularly for a couple of years without problems. It's failure referred to in this thread is the first I have experienced.

Never suggested you stop using Driver Booster. I too have used it previously without any problems but others have reported problems with it which is why I said Driver Booster might do so. Intel Driver and Support Assistant is a product of Intel. It's your business whether you choose to use it or not, not mine.

    Driver Booster

    Quotes:

    "First, stop using Driver Booster"
"As usual, DO NOT USE Driver Booster"

Clayto, that quote belongs to Helmut, not me. See for yourself under "Yes Uninstall Device" of about three days ago.
