Restart/reboot resets brightness from 100% down to 50%

This is occuring with a fresh install of 17763.1 and updated to 17763.55. Brightness ignores my setting.

    Hi Gort.

I read somewhere where adaptive brightness is turn on by default.

You may wish to research further to see if this maybe your issue.

    If this is the case

Enable or Disable Adaptive Brightness in Windows 10

and then this tutorial if adaptive brightness does not show in Advance Power Mgmt.

Remove 'Enable adaptive brightness' from Power Options in Windows

I've seen some fixes mentioned in those "All the fixes Articles" that suggests reload your manufacture display driver.

    Just some ideas.

In my case on 1809 after resume from sleep (or even turning off display) I get 0% brightness so I turned off sleep and never dim the display.

    On 1803 it was fine.

Not a help but there is clearly some issue here for sure.

My graphics is AMD X1600 which is pretty old though, unlike yours. I don't have adaptive graphics as the poster above mentioned (I did look and have seen it recommended elsewhere) - perhaps it requires some other driver - mine is from XP time.

Caledon Ken. Reading options, will get back with results of which option works. In 1809 there is no option in control panel option display. Guess it was removed or moved somewhere else.

I think as you read articles on the net people were complaining that it had been removed from Advance Power Option. Bring had that second tutorial about adding it back, at least that is what I took from it.

    Good luck.

I'll certainly give you an update if I find anything as it is an annoying change for me too.

Can you post what graphics you got if it isn't HD630 (I got that from your profile).

The fall update (1809) changed many of my power settings, some of the options within the "power settings" were even deleted and can no longer can be changed. This update (1809) was an epic fail on MS behalf. I can only hope the spring update in '19 corrects these issues.
