I have an ASUS GTX 1070 which is connected to an ACER monitor by DVI and my TV via HDMI. Displays are set to duplicate.
When I want to enter the BIOS, it only shows on my TV, my monitor shows no signal.
In the display settings, the TV is set to display number 1, so I'm assuming that's why the BIOS is only showing on it and not the monitor.
Any way around this? I really need the BIOS to show on my monitor.
The issue with the situation is that Windows [or any OS] has to wait until the BIOS has finished setting up the computer before starting its process. The OS reads the BIOS to know what resources it has available and finishes loading accordingly. There may be a setting in the BIOS for choosing which display to use first [similar to choosing which HDD/SSD to boot first] but I haven't looked for that. I do know using 2 monitors can allow setting or plugging in a particular one into a port on the computer that works before the other monitor. Can't determine how to get HDMI first although I've had to repair 2 Notebooks with broken screens and plugging in the HDMI cable and using the monitor's Menu allowed using the HDMI. But Notebooks have a hardware function with the Fn + F key to toggle between the LCD Panel, an external display or both at the same time.

The monitor would or should be primary #1 then not the t.v.
Just drag it to the #1 spot.
if only it were that easy. It looks the GPU sets the HDMI port as number 1 because I unplgged the HDMI cable, uninstalled the graphics card, rebooted and my DVI monitor was the only display (number 1) as soon as I plug the HDMI cable in, it becomes number 1 again.
There's got to be a fix for this. Never happen when I was using Radeon cards

Have you looked into nvidia control panel settings to add a monitor ?
Bios wise you'd have to look at those options there's no way for us to know what settings are there they should be in the boot section I suppose.
i've been through the BIOS and made sure that the graphics card is set as primary. I disabled the onboard graphics. I've made several other changes to the BIOS that I read worked for other people with the same problem but no luck for me
I tried a HDMI to DVI adapter, plugged it in to one of the HDMI ports but got no signal to the monitor. Not sure why that didn't work.
Even with the HDMI unplugged and the monitor set as the only display, I still can't get into the BIOS. I get no signal to the monitor until Windows starts loading
As a last resort I connected a HDMI cable from the 1070 to the monitor. If I change the input on the monitor to HDMI I can access the BIOS on the monitor. Not the best but at least it works. I would like to find a proper answer though

I have spoken at length with the PC manufacturer.
After trying all combinations and settings the conclusion seems to be that the problem lies in the motherboard and there is basically no solution within the BIOS.
To be honest, having my monitor effectively power up into the welcome screen is not a problem.
and if I need to get into the BIOS I can disconnect the HDMI connection to the TV.
