    No HDMI signal?

This is a brand new Dell XPS 3890 dekstop; just got it last Tuesday (Windows 10 Home). I got notification from Dell that I had a BIOS update, so I clicked to install it. Ever since I installed it, whenever I put my computer to sleep, start or restart I get these messages on my black screen:
    Scanning for signal ...
No HDMI signal found on your device.

I also just got a new Dell monitor last Friday.

Everything appears to be working fine, but there is obviously some kind of problem.

Can anyone give me any advice about this?

About your first remark : first things first , the message you get on the monitor is generated by your monitor/screen itself to indicate that no feed is coming through the HDMI cable which is something normal during sleeps & hibernations & restarts . So I wonder how you did not get to see those pre the Bios update , where I think maybe you just got skeptical all of a sudden . Anyway you can check the monitor menus/manual to see if you can "off" this alert message and leave you with a blank screen instead (I kind of doubt you would find such setting because monitor manufacturers tend to add OSD alerts to make it clear the problem isn't from their side so they get less misdirected support requests).

As for windows starts , absence of HDMI feed might indicate that your graphics card HDMI port was set now to be display port 2 (weather a clone or extended display) . This might indicate actually that you had a graphics driver update as well and the new graphics driver came to recognize your card as a multi-port card (maybe you have a VGA port too ?) . If so , you can change the main output port to be the HDMI port , but this is graphics card dependent setting , so you need to provide weather it is Intel , Amd or Nvidia graphics for proper instructions .

I'm sorry but I don't know enough about this to follow your instructions. Where do I find the monitor AV receiver/Switcher. The manual I found online is showing various screens that I am not able to find by pushing those little buttons on the right side of the monitor. I find nothing about settings for when signal is lost. I did find that it is set to HDMI.

    Hey Nikilet,
That message on your monitor is nothing to worry about, as long as it goes away. My HP 23E monitor does the same thing when I shutdown or reboot my PC. I've never even looked at my monitor settings to see if it that message can be turned off ... lol

BTW ... What's the model number of your Dell Monitor and I'll take a look to see if you can turn that message off ?

What happened to the guy who answered just before you and said something about some AV switch, which I didn't understand? I see his post is gone.

    Don't know ...

    https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/a...uide_en-us.pdf

The OSD settings start at page 25
The OSD messages start at page 35

Note: I didn't see an option to turn that message off , but there's no need to as it's normal. It's just your monitor not detecting a signal and going into low power mode.
