New DELL XPS resolution too high cant see settings

I got a new XPS tower PC from dell with windows 10. i plug it in, only to find the stock resolution ( I assumed ) is set too high for my monitor to connect to , No single. Just blank or black screen with no signal .
Are there any short cuts on the keyboard to boot into a low resolution mode ?

    ( solved : look below )

The solution to the resolution is most likely within the monitor settings. Check your manual you can obtain a user manual online if you don't have one.

What is the make and model number of your monitor?

How do you have it connected to the new Dell? VGA (15 pin D connector), DVI, HDMI?

Does your monitor have multiple input types? If so, there may be a button on the monitor that allows you to step through the inputs until you find the correct one. (That would mean that you don't have a resolution/refresh rate problem.)

Start the computer and hold down the right Shift key (you may have to do this like 3 times) Once it fails to boot, it will come up with the Trouble Shooting Menu. If you go to the Advanced button, there is the Startup Settings. (see attached) Here you can Enable Low Resolution Video . Once logged in, you can install a newer driver and reset the resolution.

Thanks for all the suggestions . really great. But I found the solution , apparently,I did not notice the other hdmi plug in the back. when I switched to the one towards the bottom, it actually displayed without issue . I'm oblivious sometimes. the metal panel in the back protrudes a bit, and the hdmi is just under the rim of it .so from my angle I didn't notice it .

Not sure why the other hdmi did not work, maybe its only for hi res ? Thanks !

Its all good now Like I mentioned in the post before this one .

And the model number ill add later . Its a DELL XPS with a intel core i7 8700 8th gen 3.20 ghz , 3.19 ghz .
this was ready to go at the store. and its a pretty decent pc. way faster than my hp 15 beats.
there appears to be room for upgrades too. I updated " My Computer

Maybe the one (previously used) HDMI port is defective? What's the XPS model number on your tower? If you post that we can check the specs and see if the HDMI ports are of different types. In my experience, that would be unusual. I'm more inclined to suspect some kind of mechanical defect with the connector receptacle, or perhaps some kind of electrical issue with its internal leads.

If it's like this one, then it only has one HDMI, the upper one is a DisplayPort.
    Ports & Slots
    ...12. HDMI | 13. (1) DisplayPort
