    New Graphics Card

Hi,I have just ordered the SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon™ RX 580 8GD5 Special Edition and was wondering if it will work on my motherboard as it says the card uses the UEFI BIOS and my BIOS is an old Legacy BIOS (Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 rev. 1.2)?

Thanks, if it won't work which GPU would you recommend for my setup?

I think it should work, but make sure first. Also, run Display Driver Uninstaller before swapping cards.

Under msinfo32 it says this, so i'm assuming it should work. (see picture)

Seems OK. The motherboard isn't that old. The original BIOS is from 30 May, 2012.

I'm surprised that the manual doesn't mention UEFI.

There's no reason it shouldn't work on that system, you even have PSU more than good enough.

Seems that you have a UEFI.
As a further check you can look at the BIOS/UEFI, If there is a setting for CSM (Compatibility Support Module) which is BIOS compatible mode, and a Secure Mode setting, then what you have is a UEFI.

Mine is labelled BIOS, updates were labelled BIOS, manual refers to BIOS, but for sure it is UEFI.
Not that it will matter either way.

Depends on the MB version, v3.0 has UEFI BIOS earlier ones don't. Exact MB version is in the bottom left corner of the MB.
BIOS (Basic Input Output System) is actual chip and it can operate in Legacy mode or UEFI mode. If you have EFI/UEFI partition o system disk than it's installed in that mode.

    Right.

I checked. The PSU has four 6+2 PCI-E auxiliary power connectors. The 580 needs one 8 pin plus one 6 pin. It's a high-powered card (<250W), but it's good.

The PSU as two 8 pins but you can disconnect them and make them both 6, seems to be working fantastic up to now. My old GPU (Sapphire R9 290 TRI-X OC 4GB ) while playing Fortnite on Thursday (3 times) put up a red screen with a beeping noise then turned off and rebooted, wondering if it's cause my GPU was dying that's why I got this new one.

It says its Rev 1.1 in the bottom left corner.
