Display does not fill the screen

Just taken delivery of a Dell U2717D lovely display except for this:

NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 graphics acrd set to 2560 x 1440. If I now display a photo of 2560 x 1440 pixels I would have expected the screen to be full, but no. I have a black border over an inch in depth on either side, the top and bottom have a very small border so can live with that. If I click "view actual size" on the photo it over scans and I lose a bit of the photo top and side. Have down loaded the latest drivers. Have tinkered with settings in the NVIDIA control panel namely scaling it does not seem to make any difference.
    Am I missing the obvious?
    Thanks

Have you also made settings changes in the OSD of the monitor's menu itself? The shipped/default settings in the monitor may not be exactly right for your card.

Wrong display frequency may be a culprit. Your monitor probably has automatic setting in it's firmware (OSD).

I don't know if you have tried adjusting the settings in your Image Viewer, as normally, image viewers have settings such as :

Shrink to fit Window, Shrink to fit Screen, Zoom to fit Window, Show Actual Size etc amongst other settings.

The show actual size works but I am wondering why I have to do that if screen and picture resolutions are identical

Just out of interest, which image app are you using, and does it happen with third party applications such as irfanview or XnView as well ?

I've noticed over a number of years that the pixel size of an image does not always match the same pixel size of the display screen/panel.
