    Picture shrinkage with KVM

I have a minor annoyance Im hoping someone might be able to help me with. I have a 4 switch KVM (Rosewill PKV-4UC) switching an ASUS VE278H 27 monitor between, at a minimum, My main system call it System #1, (ASUS MB) and my main Test setup, call it System #2, (Gigabite MB). Both systems are running W10 Pro, Build 16299.547. Updates appear to be current on both systems.
The problem is when I toggle away from system #2. When I toggle back to system #2, all open windows are moved to the left of their previous positions. See the attached screen shots.

This started on both systems after updating to 1709 last year. Just recently, system #1 has stopped shrinking after toggling away and back. Both systems seem to have successfully installed the same updates since June, which is before System #1 started behaving normally again. Anybody have any ideas?

Your resolution can be different between multiple monitors with a KVM. Only those KVM's that are very costly, can you have different resolutions for each monitor you are switching to.

With my setup, I share one Keyboard, Video monitor, and Mouse among two to four systems.

Again, a KVM is not going to stop a resolution issue when you are using different computer that may have different resolution settings for the monitor. Things are going to get messed up when switching from each computer to the monitor and back. That is just the nature of the beast.

Both systems are set to the monitor default of 1920 x 1080.

It does not matter. You will never stop what is happening when switching with a KVM. It is just the nature of the beast.

I seem to have solved my problem. I found a link on Technet which outlines how to modify the registry to prevent the window resizing.

I cloned my hard drive and installed the clone to make the modifications on. Ive toggled back and forth a dozen or more times, and so far there has been no window shifting. I am marking this thread solved. Hope someone else finds this useful
