Monitor Auto Configuration When Turned On

I have two monitors. The one that is giving me the issue is the AOC e2050Swd 20-Inch Class Screen LED-Lit Computer Monitor, 1600 x 900 Resolution, 5ms, 20M:1DCR, VGA/DVI, VESA. I have tried updating the graphics card, I've tried updating the chipset drivers, and I've tried resetting the monitor to its factory defaults; I'm still getting the same issue. Whenever the monitor is woke from turning off--whether it be from just going to sleep or a reboot of the system--the monitor does an auto config on the screen every time. When I reboot Windows 10, it does the auto config 3 times: one time is on the bios screen, another time is on the Windows GUI boot screen, then a third time when it's signing me into Windows. I've tried looking at all of the Windows settings that I can think of but I can't think of anywhere else to look. My graphics card is a Radeon NITRO+ RX 580 8GB GDDR5 DUAL HDMI / DVI-D / DUAL DP with backplate (UEFI) PCI-E Graphics Card.

    Hi TONPumper

You didn't say when this started. Can you tie it to any changes that may have occurred. (Patch Tuesday ?)

Can you switch the feeds at the computer to see if behaviour continues?

Have you got another computer, or a friends computer you can plug the screen into to see if this is a monitor or Hardware issue(Graphics card, cable )

From what you said I don't think this is a windows issue as you said it does when you computer is at BIOS. (Maybe shut off Fast Boot in BIOS)

I guess it started when I updated my graphics driver. I did follow a guide to optimize my SSD and I've been playing around with installing chipset drivers. I haven't decided if I want to install the latest version of the chipset drivers or it I just want to let Windows install whichever version that it has via Windows Updates. When I was in the BIOS, I didn't see any option for fast boot; however, I did notice that the monitor that is giving me the issue was on a 4:3 ratio while I was in the BIOS. I changed the ratio from 4:3 to Wide and when I restarted, the monitor didn't do the auto config until it got to the sign in screen.

In the guide I posted, I did not do the following:
    6. TURN OFF PAGEFILE (For this, I just moved the pagefile to another drive)
    11. ENABLE FASTER BOOT THROUGH MSCONFIG

I would be looking into Macrium Reflect. Great way to get back to the way it was.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

    Saved my backside a lot.

Still don't think this is windows per say as you changed the behavior for one component in BIOS.

First thing I would do is unload your graphics driver using DDU and then reapply.

Not to overload something simple. Is your BIOS basically using defaults or better do you know what you changed. You obviously know your way around computer. Have you considered reloading BIOS defaults?

I think I fixed it. Kind of a stupid fix if you ask me, but I unchecked the TURN OFF WINDOWS WRITE-CACHE BUFFER FLUSHING and now it doesn't do the auto config. I'm not sure if that should have fixed it or not. I just reinstalled my sound driver for another issue, rebooted, and the monitor did not do the auto config at all. I'm going to...monitor the system to see if the issue returns.

Should that have fixed the issue though? What exactly does TURN OFF WINDOWS WRITE-CACHE BUFFER FLUSHING do?

    I will be honest I don't know.

Where did you find this setting? I'll look to see what mine is set too.

It would appear it should be off.

    Edit:

So this is my settings for my SSD. No check mark.

Yeah, I know it's disabled by default, but according to that guide, it makes some SSDs faster.
