Desktop computer on a 4k TV Black strips on the side - only fullscreen

    Hello Everybody,

For my first thread on this forum, I have a little issue with the display of my computer on a 4k TV screen.
Actually, windows fits perfectly on my 4k TV. No black stips.
However, when I put for example a youtube video on fullscreen, it doesn't cover all the TV, I have two black stips on the sides. (I just verified, some movies I have do the same).
Please note that on youtube, the advancement bar fits the screen on fullscreen, only the video doesn't.

    Any help please.
    Thanks in advance.

It seems to me that this is probably because the aspect ratio of the video does not exactly match the aspect ratio of the TV - in which case you either have black bars somewhere or you view a distorted video. Personally I prefer the black bars.

    Hmm thanks for the reply.
So in this case, is it possible that I make the windows screen wider that the TV so when it is fullscreen it covers all the TV?

If you scale up the Windows display so it is larger than the screen then you may find that you can make your full screen videos fill the screen - but you may also find that Windows is then difficult to use (the taskbar will be off screen for starters)

It is okay, I will only do that when extremely necessary.
However how can I do that? In the settings the max I can get is 4096x2160.

There is usually a setting in your graphics card driver software that will allow you to do this.

1920X1080 should fill the screen exactly.

As should 3840X2160, which is the native resolution of a 4k TV.

Yes yes, both do. But I was talking about videos on fullscreen mode that do not fit the screen.
It is indeed a matter of the aspect ratio of the videos. They are full hd videos so they fit on full hd resolution and not 4k resolution.
That is what I think anyway.
