Viewing pictures and videos with Windows 10 1803...
I am not certain where this issue should be posted, mods please move it...
I have updated a Windows 7 PC after repairing some issues to Windows 10, version 1803, details here:
https://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...ty-update.html
The system works for the most part, except when it comes to viewing pictures, videos and even some of the browser's configuration changes may trigger it as well.
Windows 10 default apps are set as:
Opening up JPEG images with Windows Photo Viewer may work for one, or couple of images just fine. Trying to open the first, or subsequent image, results in a blank screen of all different colors, gray black, green, etc. The system does not respond to mouse and/or keyboard activity, the only way to recover is to power off the system.
Viewing a video with the Windows Media Player is also an adventure, with choppy playback and video noise. Forwarding the video results in the same blank screen as with the pictures and the system needs to be powered off. The same video plays and forwards just fine on another system.
Changing the start up page in Opera browser triggers the same blank screen as above. The start up page can be selected and/or typed in, but once the "OK" is clicked, the the screen goes blank as above. Except the color is always gray. I did not try to change settings in other applications that seem to work just fine, became somewhat weary doing it...
The event viewer does not show errors related to this issue. Well, other than the usual "Unexpected shutdown..." error that is...
The system in question has an i5-2500K CPU, 8 GBs memory, Radeon HD 6800 PCI-e video card with latest drivers and couple of Samsung SSDs. The previous Windows 7 Professional, 64-bits OS had no issues like this one with Windows 10.
Is there an easy way to fix this issue? Well, other than rolling back to Windows 7 that is...
TIA...
