Left/Right display swapped

When I turn on my Compaq desktop the display will flicker for a few minutes, then the right and left sides swap themselves. It's as if someone cut the picture vertically and switched the sides. Moving the mouse off the left edge makes it appear on the right edge. I figured it was possibly the video driver so I went to the device manager and removed the driver and restarted. That didn't help, after a few minutes the screen flickered and swapped sides again. I set the computer to safe mode and the screen swapping stopped. My thought is to replace the onboard graphics with a stand-alone card. Do you think I'm on the right track?

One thing I see by what is shown of the Taskbar is the window is too wide for the LCD panel, I'd try the Maximize/Restore button at top right to get Restore then move the mouse to left or right edge and click drag toward the other edge to resize it then click the middle button to maximize/fill the screen, click it again to Restore. Full Screen is obtained by pressing the F11 key, press again to go back. Full Screen removes a lot of extraneous information and most Toolbars that even Maximize doesn't.

Also, some windows with vertical bars separating columns can be clicked and move left or right to resize individually.

Have you tried swapping the plugs? See if you can just unplug and switch places on the video card...

The video card is integrated into the motherboard, what plugs?

Ahh, sorry I didn't realize that, thought it was a graphics card... Is there an option to use a different cable, or a different cable type? Maybe check your graphics properties as well and see if there are any reset or resolution settings you can play with to see if that helps...

One of my clients uses 2 monitors but the Add-in PCIe X16 card has 2 same-type sockets, both DVI. He can change the boot/BIOS monitor by just swapping the DVI cables, the second monitor is active as Windows loads.
