Geforce GT 640 graphics driver won't install
Hi. I have a pre-built Asus desktop computer that came with OEM Geforce GT 640. The desktop came with Windows 8. In the past I upgraded to Windows 10. However, I just recently got an SSD (upgrade from HDD) and want to start fresh. If I install windows 8 from the media that came with my computer, then the graphics card is detected and works. (Can't get it to upgrade from windows 8 to win 10 though anymore, not sure why, but I know I've been able to in the past).
So I've tried to install windows 10 fresh, which works and activates fine. The only thing busted though is the graphics card drivers. When using either the correct driver manually chosen from NVidia's website, *or* the GeForce experience, I always get a message about the setup not finding any compatible hardware. So no drivers get installed. I found this link and will try: https://www.igadgetsworld.com/how-to...hics-hardware/ ... but I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has any good ideas.
I also tried using drivers from Asus' own website. Again, no dice.
Any ideas?
Update: I got windows 8 (where graphics drivers were working) to update to windows 10 (but graphics drivers no longer worked). Win10 Windows update says an Nvidia driver update is there, and tries to apply it, but it fails with error code 0x80070002.
Again, I tried to install the official latest WHQL drivers from nvidia's site, the error message is "NVidia Installer cannot continue / This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"
Update: all of these times I've been trying to use Windows 10 build 1803.
