Asus Laptop dual graphics chip - frustrating

why oh why oh why would they develop a dual graphics card on one machine please go back to the hay day..

anyways I have an Asus Laptop Q534UXK and the issue is the resolution for games like origin client and other apps in that the app opens up to the recommended resolution of 3840-2160 which i know the apps was not designed for this resolution. how can i set all the apps to use their required resolution it makes it hard to see menus and such.

I know in the nvidia control panel there is a setting to change each app to use the proper Resolution but it is not there , I have the latest Nvidia drivers intstalled for the GTX geforce 950m. this would take forever to change each app and game which doesnt make sense to do.

I wanted to also confirm that since there is 2 onboard graphics devices Nvidia and intel are both suppose to run in unison ? I checked direct x and the nvidia is the render and intel is the display

    thank you for any insight

I can't comment directly on your ASUS, but I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5577 "gaming" laptop that has Intel and NVIDIA graphics. The NVIDIA comes in use with games and the Intel is used for general PC work.

That is a problem with high resolution small screens. The 282 dpi is quite ridiculous for some applications that don't respond to scaling or have settings to change, as you have found out unreadable menus.

ASUS does not say but your description fits the rather smaller Nvidia Optimus Control Panel.

Not that it matters both renderers have the same output. However those don't run in unison exactly. When using the Nvidia renderer there is usually some small percentage use of the iGPU but what the Task Manager is actually looking at I don't know.

That is a decision you make on buying a Laptop assuming use of the internal screen. The more standard 96-120 dpi suited me and that is no problem.

recommended resolution of 3840-2160 as stated above.
    Is a 4k resolution
You Video card and Display device has to support 4K for that resolution and enough memory for both PC and video card.
And do they really have that many games out already in 4K ????

changing the DPI scaling did nothing what i am using is the Origin app for EA games client and the menu and such are really small there has to be a more granular way to set the scaling for apps that do not support such high resolution.
