Dual monitor or ultrawide?

Hey guys. I am stuck between decisions. I plan on getting the GTX 1180 16gb (planning ahead) and I do alot of gaming. While I do like ultrawide but I don't want to compromise frame rates. I would like to use obs or xsplit for streaming games for fun. Thing is, I would like to do 1440p gaming. I just got myself 8700k with 16gb 3200mhz trident z rgb ram. I have my system oc to 5.0ghz.

So the real concern is, which is more preferably reasonable? A 3440x1440p g sync monitor or 2x 1440p monitors (1x g sync tn for gaming and 1x ips for obs or xsplit and viewing comments). I can always view the comments on my phone so I don't care about viewing just comments on a separate monitor.

And if I do go dual monitor, do I have to get both of the same monitors and samw resolution? Suggestions? Tips?

I had two 24" inch monitors 3,840 x 1,440 for a long time, just gave it up for a 32" Benq monitor (2,560 x1,440) and like it better. In games, the 2 x monitors is iffy at best and you may end up playing on a single monitor, depending on the game, plus there's a gap between the screens, even if it works. The latter one has always bothered me...

My better half has a Samsung 40" UHD TV for monitor, with 3,840 x 2,160 resolution. It works great with a nVidia video card, but the refresh rate for the TV is capped at 60 Hz. It's more than enough for office work, no games and well worth the for the price...

I actually have a Samsung 40 inch 4K TV with hdr as well. So for now use the 4K tv for streaming and video editing and use a 1440p tn for gaming?

You'd be better of if you get the same size monitors with the same resolution, preferably at the same time. If there's a year or more difference between the manufacturing dates of the monitors, it might be hard to adjust the colors and brightness the same, without professional calibration of the monitors.

I had a single 24" monitor and couple of years later, got the same 24" monitor from Dell. The bezel was a bit narrower and I could never make the color and brightness the same on the two monitors. They were close enough and hardly noticeable, but not the same. This might be due to the old one being worn a bit and could not match the new vivid colors of the new one.

What about tn and ips?

Well, the TN is faster than the IPS monitor and as such, better for gaming. On the other hand, the colors are better with the IPS monitors:

I know that. What I meant is having one of each is ok side by side? I can get 2x 1440p monitors because I like ips for video and photo editing as well and only use tn for gaming. I am going to use x split to record my gaming sessions on the ips monitor while my tn is used for gaming.

I don't know, but can't see why it would not work...
