I'm glad you managed to fix it. I believe if you have the Nvidia Control Panel, you can set the preferred graphics adapter by app or globally.
The sharing is called Optimus Technology and works as you described in an earlier post. The biggest problem with Optimus and the AMD version is the OEM Manufacturers alter the drivers, presumably to force you to go to their website to download the drivers. The downside is, they don't keep their drivers updated and because they have been manipulated, the standard Nvidia/Intel/AMD drivers do not work right.
You are not the first person with this problem and will not be the last. It has been a real pain to resolve the problems which is typically to disable one or the other. I am glad you have it working though.
