Issue with Nvidia graphics card after windows update

I'm glad you managed to fix it. I believe if you have the Nvidia Control Panel, you can set the preferred graphics adapter by app or globally.

The sharing is called Optimus Technology and works as you described in an earlier post. The biggest problem with Optimus and the AMD version is the OEM Manufacturers alter the drivers, presumably to force you to go to their website to download the drivers. The downside is, they don't keep their drivers updated and because they have been manipulated, the standard Nvidia/Intel/AMD drivers do not work right.

You are not the first person with this problem and will not be the last. It has been a real pain to resolve the problems which is typically to disable one or the other. I am glad you have it working though.

Yes it, like most things in life, is a trade off. You can usually get better graphics or better battery life. Rarely both.

I would try that first, but as described in a previous post, if the manufacturer has manipulated the graphics drivers, often times only the ones on their web site for your notebook will work.

I have an older Samsung laptop with an Nvidia card. I have been able to set the Nvidia card as the main graphics processor in the Nvidia Control Panel and disable the Intel from Device manager. It has worked that way for years with no problem. If battery life is more important to you, I would think you could set the Intel as main graphics processor from the Nvidia control panel.

Some Laptops have an option in BIOS to disable Optimus technology, which I would think would be the better way to do it, but mine did not. Maybe yours does.
