Issue with Nvidia graphics card after windows update

    Hi, forums

I just updated my windows 10 to version 1803 and It has brought some issues. First, my HDMI port is not working, I am on a laptop btw so it's an integrated graphics card. I also can not access my Nvidia control panel because it gives me an error that says no Nvidia card is connected. I tried updating the drivers for both the GTX 1050 as well as the integrated Intel graphics, which are display adapters that work in conjunction with each other if that makes sense. I don't know what the issue is. please help :)

Which laptop are you using? Seems you have switchable graphics which can cause issues. Check in the BIOS for any GPU settings. Your iGPU shows a bang so that driver install didnt take.

If what I am seeing is from your Device Manager, you have drivers installed or they would say something like generic display adapter. Try to right click an empty place on your desktop and see if you have an option for the Nvidia Control Panel. You can also go to programs and features and Uninstall a Program and see which Nvidia entries you have there. I wouldn't uninstall any of them yet, just see if you can see them there.

So one of the problems was the control panel won't open. It shows up as an option on my desktop but it won't open because It says no display adapter is connected. I know the driver installed, it's just a conflict with the windows update. I went back to windows update 1709 and it fixed it, it didn't matter if the Nvidia drivers were installed. I don't know if I am describing this issue well, so please ask questions if it needs more clarifying.

I have an Asus VivoBook Pro 15 N580VD I will try that and see if it works! thanks for your help! Do you know if it would disable the Intel integrated because of the two work in conjunction with a lot of processes? like the integrated will do the low demand processes and the gtx 1050 does gaming and stuff.

Magpeye try these steps and see if they will work for you. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...-error-code-43

Also, do you do regular backups with images to an external hard drive?

I cant roll back the drivers it doesn't give me the option anymore. What I have tried is going back to windows 1709 and then updating the driver and then updating windows to 1803 it still didn't work. Since I did that I think that's why it won't let me roll back the drivers. I have gone back to 1709 twice already, and obviously, there's no issue then. My computer also forces the 1803 update, which I actually want to run in 1803. I just want this to work. May it be a NVIDIA issue?

And I don't do that, although a should, any good tutorials on this?

Also, side note, my integrated graphics has the warning sign in the device manager. I have tried updating that graphics driver and it won't let me unless it is through Asus. I did the Asus driver for the VGA. Since the update though, I no longer have the Intel graphics control app?

So I went into the BIOS and they work in conjunction you can't individually select the graphics card. I have found out though they are both still functioning 100% and still change according to the intensity of the program. It just Nvidia control panel isn't working and neither is my HDMI, because it's not detecting the display.

Also can explain what you mean by my driver didn't take. I am still a little windows noob.

After lots of trying different things, and not thinking the issue was the Intel graphics. I found the solution. It was the intel driver it was not updating properly. I couldn't rollback the driver because it never updated from the original driver anyways. Or at least when I updated from windows 1709 to 1803 it uninstalled the most recent driver. Which would have been okay if when I went to device manager and just updated the driver it would update? But it wouldn't update! Finally, I manually updated the driver using this tutorial goo.gl/i5Qe6a. That fixed everything. Idk if other people will have this issue during the update to 1709 to 1803, but make sure your drivers are updated correctly.
