American exceptionalism... I live in the rest of the world and have never seen a brand-less /national (?) brand TV.
China produce what is called White Box products , these are exported to other countries and brand stamped by whatever the importer decides as a brand name/logo , you end up with for example an LED TV named Hyundai , Grouhy , Centra , Nokia etc.

Also other countries have national manufacturers who produce their own line of LEDs / Projectors you might have never heard of like Telestar , Technostar , Caira , Akai etc.

Most these suffer of not being detected as audio capable devices when hooked up to intel's HDMI port.

Interesting to know, but that doesn't help you fix your problem @nIGHTmAYOR. Hope you find a fix, and then share it here with the rest of the world.
    Sorry for your troubles.

This thing requires deep knowledge as an intel driver modder or in reverse engineering or maybe some registry geek .

For me I kinda solved it by using a branded converter HDMI to AV but then comes the wiring hassle and the loss of quality .

    Hi there
I think the problem is at the computer end as the HDMI output senses when the monitor is not connected any more.

Why not try these -- audio extractor with HDMI out as well. Decent DAC's in these so sound quality OK.

Neoteck HDMI Audio Extractor 4K 2160P HDMI to Optical: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

I'm not sure though if the monitor / video source is disconnected -- what happens -- my idea would be to couple this to an HDMI splitter so even if the monitor is disconnected the audio should still be available -- presumably that's what you want.

Note the one above does HDMI 1.4 which should be enough -- use a USB slot for 5V poer supply -- you don't need to buy another power supply -- powered easily from a usb slot (charging one) or mobile phone charger. Works for SKY Q minibox and 4K amazon fire TV box currently. If you need HDMI V2 then you'll need to get a newr version of this type of hardware -- don't think too much stuff is around yet on HDMI 2.0

    Cheers

I don't think it's Intel, probably Windows try to determine if the monitor has audio capabilities (TV) or not (plain PC monitor). If it doesn't have, then it doesn't output the audio to HDMI but plays through the computer speakers instead. The quality of the cable has nothing to do with it. If Windows cannot determine the capabilities of the device it might have (I guess) a database of known devices which of course are mostly well-known brands. If your device is OEM and not in the database Windows prevents audio output to be on the safe side. You can however right-click on the speaker icon on the task bar, select Sound Settings and then make the HDMI output default. This should force HDMI audio regardless of the monitor capabilities. The same can be done from Intel Graphics Properties in audio section.

Nope its fully intel's side , its even part of the control panel of intel to display weather the device is audio capable or not where if not the hdmi hardware audio output in device manager is disabled and if it is it enables hdmi hardware audio output . so like you see you can't set it to default output to hdmi audio in sound properties since the device wouldn't be enabled in first place .

And P.S you can't enable hardware hdmi audio output in device manager on your own , as once the driver decide the plugged TV/Projector/Monitor isn't audio capable the hardware side of intel acts as if unplugged .

Have you tried plugging-uplugging the HDMI cable or switch to HDMI input and then turn on or restart the PC?

    Hi folks

That HDMI audio extractor / splitter I referred to about 3 posts ago in this thread works - even when the monitor is disconnected. The host application on the PC needs of course to keep running though.

It has also a switch to Analog 2 ch or optical spdif depending on what audio output you need. --- Works a treat - at least on my system.

    Cheers

Thank you for the suggestion , i did mention i use similar procedure in earlier post but then still see that intel should have made it simpler for us , now that we have to buy extra adapters and more wires adding more bulk on desk and losing quality or paying more to not to etc . all these blahs wouldn't be necessary if they would just add a manual toggle to force output audio and call it today .
