Could Not Manually Install Intel Display Intel HD Graphics 630?

Could Not Manually Install (Error Message) Intel Display Driver (Go to Lenovo?) Intel HD Graphics 630

So I went to Intel's website to look for the latest display driver for Thinkpad p51 Intel Graphics 630 and landed here:

    http://https://downloadcenter.intel....Windows-15-65-

Read Me (txt) notes indicated that this was the correct driver for my processor Intel Core i7-7700HQ. When I went to install I received an error message "Error Message: Computer Manufacturer Graphics Driver Detected." And landed here:

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us...s-drivers.html

Or Error: This driver could not be installed on this computer. Contact the computer's manufacturer for further information. Why did I get this error? Your computer manufacturer customizes drivers that run Intel® components on your machine."So is that right that I cannot DL and manually install the Intel display driver but have to do it from Lenovo's website or did I unintentionally grab the wrong driver? TIA.

That could be right, I have 2 older Desktops, a Dell OptiPlex 755 and a Dell Inspiron 530S, with onboard graphics from Intel that can't be updated for Win10 due to no drivers available, had to use an Add-in ATI Radeon 2400 HD card in each to get around that issue. Seems to be the Intel Express chipset is the problem.

That is correct. Lenovo (and HP and maybe others) will not let you install the Intel drivers directly. You have to use their own packaged drivers.

I believe you can bypass the check by extracting the driver and manually installing it through Device Manager. But since your laptop is fairly recent I don't expect Lenovo's drivers to be too far out of date.

On most Laptops the initial Graphics Drivers comes from the manufacturer, they may or may not post updates.
Mine never even posted one for Windows 10. Both just come from MS updates, so does the Nvidia.

The drivers you get directly from Intel will be stopped from installing as hardware differs on Laptops.
The video output is common to both graphics systems in most cases.
That is what the error message is telling you.

I would not worry about it, you get stable properly working drivers. Fanatical gamers often wreck their driver installs by forcing drivers on to hardware that is not the same of which they have no knowledge.
