That's really trying to make a killing.
A quick search shows the reason for high prices. This is an older article but still holds true.
Memory chip prices surge in aftermath of Japans quake | Computerworld
Hello, @JLMaloney. Welcome to Windows TenForums.
Yes, a rather seven-year-old article and unfortunate crisis. I would think they would have recovered by now, so not a factor for today. Shock news (no pun intended) always affects the market until they change the supply chain.
I understand what you're getting at overall, Steve, but what are the price hikes from the previous models to the new ones? If there's a larger and sudden surge, then that would be an indicator of gouging. That's knowing that new models are, of course, always higher, but at what percentage higher?
Also, it could be that the AIBs are passing on the blame to retailers/resellers, which is correct, but half-truth.
Tony, a 5% price hike never has and never will be considered price gouging, and you know it. You must be the only person on the forums that is not aware that dram prices have gone up exponentially in the past year or so, driving up production costs. In some SKUs they have put in faster ram, further increasing production costs. There is no there there, and you know that. All you are doing is trying to start an argument... again. I don't have time to participate in your little games.
Was Eyeing that Card or a 1070, but might have to wait a bit til it's in stock and affordable lol
