Update KB4056892 causes failed Fan Control

I just purchased the STRIX Gaming Graphics Card - GEFORCE GTX 1050Ti from ASUS.

As soon as it was installed in my Windows 10 desktop I started seeing this message:
    "ASUSGPUFanServiceEx.exe has stopped working".

A little research online and others reporting that this issue is caused by MS Update KB4056892 installed on approx. 1/4/2018. I deleted the patch (KB4056892) and my graphics card fans worked as they should until Windows Update reinstalled the update.

With this update in place my new Graphics Card is at risk (no fans running).

Mean time, I've reverting to Windows 7.

Have others seen this issue as well? Is there a way to stop WIN10 from reinstalling this particular update?

Hi hillhuggr. Welcome to the TenForums @hillhuggr

    To hide an update.

Hide or Show Windows Updates in Windows 10

Did you see if Asus had an update to the utility.

Will give the solution a try

Thanks for the response Ken. I'll reinstall the WIN10 HDD when I get a chance and try to hide that the update.

Just use Precision (EVGA ) or MSI AfterBurner instead for the Fan Control , ASUS's Software is typical buggy so I don't use it or AiSuite etc either ESPECIALLY when it comes to fan control....

Windows NEEDS KB4056892 to mitigate the current Spectre and Meltdown Issues in the Media.
