    3) Check with the computer manufacturer for firmware.
For example reinstalling the bios may fix any firmware corruption.

    I experience something very similar.

At the most randomest of moments, when I'm using the computer (I'm sure it could happen when the computer is idle, yet don't remember if that ever happened), the computer freezes up. Yes the only things I can do is move the mouse and press Ctrl+Alt+Del. Task manager loads up quick. Pressing anything else other than there with the mouse or typing is very lagged and get a response about a minute later. Usually I load up Task Manager, end explorer.exe & run explorer.exe. If I'm in the lucky 10% of the time deal, everything gets responsive once again! YAY! But usually, when I reload explorer.exe, it's all still lagged and stupid.
I may suspect it could be Google Chrome that causes this, which is weird if so.

But one quickest (kind of annoying solution) Is to Ctrl+Alt+Del > Sign out. Once I sign back in, it is guaranteed that everything loads back up and functioning again. Reason why it's annoying though, is that every program I had open is no longer open. Yet, this "Sign out" process is definitely less annoying than restarting the whole computer, because it is quick and just as effective as a restart.

I would love a solution to all this.
