FWIW.. I too had all kinds of strange issues with an upgrade to FCU... Clean installed and all good. Still, I don't get this tho' -- btw I don't mess with Gpedit -- but have this "managed by your organization" crap
....Just to be clear... I'm not on Insider and this is not a mobile device - Updates are not blocked.
This particular 'managed...' message with the 'view configured update policies' link beneath it is triggered if curiosity ever got the better of you and...

... You ticked the Policy box for '...automatically download updates, even on metered connections...' in the Advanced Options, didn't you? This policy also appears in Home...

That creates a policy, and unticking doesn't remove it, it just set the policy to the default behaviour as if the policy wasn't in place. It's a different sort of policy, it's not a Group Policy so gpedit is unlikely to help. Its a Mobile Device Management policy.

remove msg "some settings are managed by Org" in Windows Update

Oddly, it is only Pro that has this problem, Home doesn't say 'managed...' however many times you tick the box. For this particular problem...

...the way to remove the Some settings are managed by your organization message is to:

    1. untick the policy box first

    2. delete AllowAutoWindowsUpdateDownloadOverMeteredNetwork in
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings

    3. check for updates.
View Configured Update Policies in Windows 10

...and never, ever, tick that box again

I'll definitely keep this in mind but....
Oddly enough I never had the 'managed' thing in Windows Updates or Advanced Options in Windows Updates. The 'managed' thing was in all sorts of other settings i.e. Lock Screen, Feedback & Diagnostics, Start, an several more places.
    All this was in v1709
don't have those issues with v1703 (one big reason I went back to it)

BTW my registry file (in v1703) doesn't show or have this option (it does show I have the Business Branch settings)
    AllowAutoWindowsUpdateDownloadOverMeteredNetwork
    in
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings

That particular 'managed' thing (and the registry item that goes with it) only appear when you first tick the Policy box for '...automatically download updates, even on metered connections...' in the Advanced Options (and only in Pro, Home doesn't seem to do it).

...The 'managed' thing was in all sorts of other settings...
It's always a Group Policy (or the registry settings that go with one) that causes them. The policy must be 'unconfigured' (ie. the registry key deleted) for them to go away. The difficult bit is to track down exactly which registry setting need deleting. Almost impossible without a guide to tell you where to look - this one perhaps...

yeah don't know why the fall update was giving me so much trouble but it did...it all started when I looked at my Event Viewer...then navigating around Settings started seeing all those 'managed' deals...the window.miracastview started in off in EV errors tried all the 'fixes' one was to get a previous version of windows (in this case 1703) find the Miracast folder an save it an put it in the 1709 version so the SysPrep thing would run correctly...this was the tip of the ice burg...deleting EndOfLIfe in the registry really started a snowball effect (that was another 'fix') all the DCOM errors led to a delete Ole file an that caused more issues; after all the 'fixing' windows just didn't run very well an no matter how many times I refreshed the OS (1709) it just didn't seem to be it's old self; not to mention all the new errors that the FUD conjured up.
For now going back to 1703 has been the answer for me, an as stated I set WU Advanced options to the Business Branch an drilled down to 365 days drop down. The only 'managed' thing I'm seeing now (that I am aware of) is in Feedback & diagnostics an that's no big deal an not sure I care to have what that entails an what comes with it...to me it's all about advertising or selling it to advertisers.
thanks Bree for your time on this...you too HippsieGypsie & Superfly

I think I know that one...

...having set it myself. You can try it yourself to see the effects. Create the DWORD AllowTelemetry with the value 0 in... Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection

This adds the red message (complete with the '*') in Settings > Privacy > Feedback & diasgnostics and greys out the 'Select how much data you send to Microsoft' options. This registry setting will be retained after an in-place upgrade, either to the same version or upgrading to Creators (I know, having done both). Delete AllowTelemetry and that setting page returns to normal.

You're welcome, tazmo. Not sure if I was much help, though. Bree is a sharp as a tack.

    Good luck to you.
