Can't renumber photo files.

Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.64)

I did this several weeks ago but can't do it now. I suspect that an update may be responsible.

I have followed instructions found on various websites - all similar, but they don't work.

A solution would be very welcome.

What exactly are you trying to do?

All of my photographs had numbers which were not sequential or had alpha-numeric names. I renumbered those, giving them a common name followed by a sequential number starting with 1.

I have added more photographs to the same folder since then and want to repeat the process so that all of them are similarly named, and sequentially numbered.

Select all►rename►press Enter; the numbers will have brackets around them though!

If you want to keep them in chronological order, you'll have to 'Sort by' 'Date/Ascending'

That didn't do any renaming/renumbering. What it did do was change my desktop background colour to the slide-show!
