    Windows doesn't shut down

    Hi!
    After last big Windows 10 update (probably KB4048955), my computer doesn't shut down.
    I choose "shut down", but when I try to turn computer on, I'm still logged in.
    Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

    Fast startup is off.

    Thank you for reply! :)

    If this is a laptop as listed in your computer specs....You can pull the battery for a few minutes and then reinsert and recheck.

    Your tip doesn't help me.
    I have to log out manually, then shut down the computer.

    Nor is there any need to remove the battery... which may require disassembling the unit just to get to it.

    Anyway try holding the power button down to see it shuts off. And see what happens from there. You may have some corrupted files that's preventing s shut down. Something forcing a shut down (holding the power button down) may clear things up.

    Wait, are you saying this happens each and every shutdown?

    If it was a update i would look into going back to before it was installed

    Also look up what the update is for if it isn't something you need block it from updating again

    Yes, it's true.
    Recently, I have used Wise Registry Cleaner ( WiseCleaner Software - Optimize, Clean and Speed Up Your Windows PC ) and bleachbit ( Clean Your System and Free Disk Space | BleachBit ).
    I have registry backup from 25.09.17, but probably it's too old.
    In Wise Registry Cleaner folder, I have found some small backups from cleaning, but I'm not sure, if it contains all the registry key. Tomorrow, I'll try to restore all backups.

    KB4048955 is improvements and security update, so it's important

    That part caught my eye. Please think twice and get more advice before you start restoring registry backup files you don't what they are and a registry backup from 2 months ago. A repair install may be in order.

    Hopefully this will help. As a rule you should avoid using registry cleaners unless you are knowledgeable and you first create a backup. Most folks here would agree that registry cleaners are really not necessary and can do more harm than good.

    @f14tomcat
    I mean, I'll restore backups from cleaning, not all registry backup - I know, it isn't wise. Thanks for your link

    @SoFine409
    Thanks. I'll never use registry cleaner again

    I have to completely agree with f14tomcat all the way here. The way you've been messing with the registry, a restored backup could really mess things up. I'll also add I'm not personally fond of registry cleaners and really see no need for them. But.... that's me.

    Anyway agree with f14, do the repair install. Simpler, quicker, easier.
