    The line is there to make it prominent that the program is open. Under WIndows 7, the whole square was coloured. I think I prefer the line.

    The line uses the same colour as the tiles on the Start menu, you could choose an unobtrusive one.
    Settings > Personalisation > Colours

    If you get a chance to look at a Macintosh computer you will notice on their Dock that open programs have a dot under them. Who stole from who in that feature/idea?

    Basically, they are there to show which program is open on which Virtual Desktop. Too sloppy of a hack to get rid of. Live with it.

    Can you remove them without installing a program that adds a whole bunch of feature?
    Im really not interested in messing up my taskbar, i just want the lines to go away.
