    By the time you fetch and re-write the necessary code, you're probably gonna mess up more than just your Taskbar!

    Find a trusted 3rd party app to take care of it properly.

    Hi folks
    I know everybody is different but surely if you are running a load of concurrent applications - especially if you only have or are using 1 monitor having a line under open applications to me seems sensible and hardly worth the bother of trying to remove them.

    Why not just "auto hide" the task bar if you don't want to see any of the icons while you are in the middle of an application say like EXCEL in full screen mode.
