This is a forum where we get to discus things. As for me it's not a bother.. but I like them.

It's simply a small visual indication you have something(s) running. Would you rather not know what apps/progs/whatever you opened? I prefer to drive without a blindfold on. IMHO.

Only if you have stuff pinned to the taskbar. Otherwise, you already know what's running by virtue of it simply being there.

Also, people who want to "discuss" the fact that they like the underline should start their own thread, not hijack a thread where the question is how to disable it.

Sorry.. but this is a two way street when it come to any discussion. I can fully understand that the OP would like to remove that feature but as far as I know there will be no way to do that, now or in the future. Well, unless MS removes it from the OS.

Sorry to say, but you don't know much then. We've been able to completely customize what the taskbar looks like in all Windows versions since XP, so removing some underlines is nothing, and we're sure to see some apps or skins that can do it come out very soon. In fact, you can already get the "classic" taskbar back, which doesn't have those underlines.

Nice.. take the statement I made and just use the part you want to use. If you took the time to use the entire statement I said that MS would not change the feature.. not that there would not be any third party product that would be able to change the task bar.

Well you can't now so don't hang yourself for something so insignificant. Seriously?

We never had or needed the lines before. Just color the entire icon like was done before to indicate that the program is active.

Had to look twice at the thread title.
Its I, I, I, me , me , me,... nit picking freaks who cannot appreciate that the majority find the underlining a positive indication.
