Maybe but installing an OS over an OS which has then been installed over several more times isn't normally done. Purist have always cleaned installed. I have a Win 10 install that started clean back in 2015 and its been updated several times no issues. I have several machines that I use to teach with and no issues with them either.

Nisko says he had issues way back and they've been get worse.

You may or may not agree with me but I don't think MS should be shipping out major OS updates as though they are monthly patches. There are just far to many variables in terms of software and hardware in the Windows world to say, here have a go of it.

Nisko maybe one more time, what has happen to desktop? Lots of new members here, maybe, just maybe someone has an new idea.

could you describe that in a little more detail. Assume you mean you ran SFC /scannow, then it looks like you used DISM, which option and then went back to scan.

    Thanks.

Yes, please post the detail command and options you used for dism. I will post my issues within a day or two. With new members, you're right - maybe someone has a solution(s).

Well the answer is clearly 42, but we have no idea what the question was.

My issues are mostly connected to the Desktop and installing new programs after the latest Fall Creator's Update.
I see, Window Defender again. Either "Protected Folders" is enabled or Exploit settings have to be reset to default.

I need to speak to a human tech support agent regarding the latest update to Windows 10. My Desktop is messed up. Thank you.
That would be Windows 10 Forums Microsoft does not pick up, unless you are a large government, medical, basically anyone that can afford their costs and are running Enterprise editions of their software.

and I think it would be Step 5 in the tutorial DISM /Restorehealth.

That said, as cereberus points out, we are all guessing what the issue with Desktop. If this issue has been getting worse Protected Folders weren't around. Not saying it isn't some sort of access / authority issue just that concept is new.

So if you could describe issue there seems to be quite a few members that want to help.
