    Win10 broken spell checking..

I know this has been asked before but I can't find any solutions to the problem that Win10 spell check feature seems to be broken in pretty much everything I'm using in Windows (notepad/ mail etc).
I've turned on all the spell check options (settings -->Devices--> Typing) but nothing makes a difference at all. No autocorrect, no underlining of suspect words etc etc.

Spellcheck works in this text box as I'm typing (in Vivaldi browser) but not in any universal app.
I'm using the Fall Creators Update version on Win10.

Can anyone suggest a fix please - really desperate to get this working again as my typing skills are awful!

Open Settings....click on Time and Languages....then Region and Language.
Does it show....English (UK) as the display language.....if another say English (US) for example.....Click on Add a Language ie_ English (UK) and choose it as the display language.

Thx, I’ve checked it and it’s already on English-UK

My impression was that Windows' built-in spell checking only works in "Universal Apps" (Edge, Mail, Calendar and such, not Notepad, Wordpad, etc). Certainly I've never seen it spell-check in Wordpad or Notepad and such.

I thought it used to work in Notepad but it definitely doesn’t work in Mail or Calendar for me. It used to, but at some point in the recent updates, it just stopped working. I’ve tried registry tweaks etc but nothing makes it work again!
